In the 2025 Finance Act, 15 million DKK has been allocated for the period from 2025 to 2027 to a new coalition called the Partnership for Takeaway Packaging. It is supported by a secretariat, a role that has been assigned to the consultancy Norion, who will be responsible for driving progress, facilitating collaboration, and ensuring results.

Purpose and key areas of work

The purpose of the partnership is to establish a well-founded knowledge base and to develop implementable initiatives and recommendations for a national deposit and return system for takeaway packaging. The aim is to phase out single-use packaging and promote the use of reusable packaging, achieving the greatest possible environmental impact. The partnership will, among other things, provide proposals for logistic solutions that will ensure reusable packaging can circulate efficiently, measures that encourage consumers to choose reusable packaging instead of single-use, and design requirements for the packaging.

Sharing knowledge

The partnership’s website includes a resource bank where best practices, case studies, and analyses are continuously shared. Circular Copenhagen actively contributes to the partnership, and the website is regularly updated with the latest knowledge on reusable packaging, results from tests conducted in Denmark, news, and other relevant updates.
