Site Visit to AVR Rozenburg sorting facility in Rotterdam

The City of Copenhagen is extending an exclusive invitation to industry professionals to participate in a site visit on September 29th, 2025, at 14:00 at the AVR Rozenburg residual waste sorting facility in Rotterdam, which is used to process unsorted household waste.
This visit to AVR Rozenburg residual waste sorting facility will provide professionals with the opportunity to closely examine the quality of baled waste fractions - plastics, cardboard and paper, metals, and beverage cartons - that have been expertly sorted.
Furthermore, the visit is specifically tailored to support professionals in preparing bids for an upcoming tender, focusing on waste fractions sorted from a similar facility currently under construction at ARC in Copenhagen, which will use the same technology. The facility is expected to be operational in approximately one year.
Purpose of the visit
The City of Copenhagen expects many similarities between the sorted waste at the facility in Rotterdam and the facility at ARC. It is therefore the hope and expectation that a visit to Rotterdam to inspect the sorted waste put into bales will make it easier for bidders to know what to expect from the waste sorted at ARC.
The City of Copenhagen expects to begin the tendering process for treatment of the sorted waste from ARC in Q1 2026.
